On the occasion of Karolinska Instituets 200:th anniversary in 2010, the Institute wanted Step2 to create a programme to commemorate its anniversary and life science achievements. The programme was shown at two different venues. First at the gala dinner at Stockholm’s City Hall, with 1200 distinguished guests including the Swedish royal family, Nobel Laureates and professors from around the world. The second gala evening was to be held in the Stockholm sports and concert arena Globen, with 5000 of Karolinska Institute’s employees and students in attendance.
A story was written about the Karolinska Institute’s birth, educational and medical achievements and impact on people’s lives and health over the past 200 years. The story made time-warp leaps between historical events and the present so as to illustrate the health impact resulting from various medical innovations. It also included a glimpse of the Institute’s future and its visions for future life science revolutions. On the two gala evenings, the storytelling was adapted to the audience in attendance and to the different core messages of the respective presentations.
Both gala evenings generated long-lasting positive results far beyond expectations. The employee and student brand value was significantly enhanced, as was the internal sense of unity and pride in the Institute’s achievements.
